      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
  • How is Interfaith Ministries funded?Interfaith receives support from churches and the Jewish community in the Wichita Falls area, and from individuals, businesses, civic organizations and local foundations. Support comes from financial donations, in-kind items such as food, hygiene items and office supplies, volunteers who help staff the office, and prayers for the welfare of our clients.
  • Is my donation to Interfaith Ministries tax-deductible?Interfaith Ministries is a non-profit corporation that meets the IRS requirements for a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations to Interfaith are tax-deductible.
  • How much of my donation will fund the services IMI provides? In 2009, 92% of every dollar received directly assisted clients in need. 8% of each dollar funded the operation and fundraising activities of the organization.
  • How will my donation help people in need?Financial donations are used to pay utility bills and rent that enable families to stay in their residences and avoid the difficulties that come with loss of utilities and evictions. These include paying additional fees and deposits to reestablish utility service; cost and inconvenience of moving, along with additional deposits in a new residence; possibly relocating children to a different school; replacing food that may have spoiled if electric service is terminated. Life-saving prescriptions are purchased for those who can’t afford them. Your donation may help someone obtain a birth certificate or ID card. Dentures, glasses and hearing aids are provided for elderly or those who need them in order to be employable.
  • Does Interfaith Ministries help everyone who asks for assistance? Not everyone meets the criteria for assistance determined by the Board of Directors. In order to be good stewards of the community’s resources, Interfaith tries to help those who are trying to meet their own needs, who have exhausted their own resources, and who have taken advantage of government or other assistance that may be available. If Interfaith is not able to assist with everything requested, the staff and volunteers work with clients to decide which needs are most important and try to help meet those needs first. Information is given to clients regarding other resources along with contact information.
