Disaster Recovery

Interfaith Ministries is a member of the Wichita Falls Area Disaster Recovery Committee, a coalition of community partners formed in July 2007 to establish and maintain a network within and on behalf of the faith communities and secular agencies which will provide a coordinated response to disasters affecting our community. The committee is comprised of representatives of social service organizations, city and county employees and community volunteers, as well as several religious congregations.

Disaster is defined as a major natural or man-made event, affecting numerous structures, large enough to prompt a request for a state or federal disaster declaration.

Community is defined as Wichita County and any adjacent county in Texas (Wilbarger, Archer, Clay) also affected by a particular disaster (the committee will only be activated if the disaster affects Wichita County). The committee’s purpose is to assist individuals unable to recover from the disaster through their own resources.
