Interfaith serves a fairly diverse population. Seventy-one percent of all IMI clients have been helped only one or two times per year, half of which have been assisted only once. Over two-thirds of our clients are women, and over fifty percent of those are in their twenties and thirties. Overall about seven percent are younger than twenty, and forty percent are over forty. Nearly one-third are single people, and over one-third are single parents. Fourteen percent are married with children. Though racial statistics are not available, it is evident that the need for assistance exists among all races.
Interfaith has 8 sessions each week when volunteers are present in the building to assist clients which are: each weekday morning at 9:00 AM as well as Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1:00 PM.
Each client is interviewed by an Intake Volunteer regarding household income and expenses. Then, following the policies and guidelines for assistance, developed by the Interfaith Ministries, Inc. Board of Directors, a determination is made as to whether IMI can help. If not, clients are given referral information regarding other agencies for assistance in accordance with Interfaith Ministries’ goal of providing information and encouragement to help people take steps toward meeting their own needs.
Interfaith Ministries will accept applications for assistance from residents with Wichita Falls (76301,02,06,07,08,09,10) and Iowa Park (76367) zip codes. Social Security Card and Picture ID are required, along with paperwork related to need, such as termination notices, prescriptions, etc.
